The Second Division League is the second tier competition in Qatari football. The competition was first introduced in the 1996/1997 season.
According to the development strategy of the league, starting from the 2022-23 season, the first-placed team of the Second Division competition will participate in a play-off game against the tenth-placed team in the QNB Stars League competition, to determine the team that will participate in the QNB Stars League for the next season.
Meanwhile, the 11th and 12th ranked teams of the QNB Stars League will be relegated directly to the Second Division league 
The Qatari Second Division Cup is an annual association football competition in Qatar which is played in by clubs of the Qatari Second Division.
