Our first football team tied with Al-Sailiya Club with one goal for each team, in a match held this evening at Al-Khor Stadium, as part of the fourth week of the Second Division Cup. Mariano Vazquez scored our team’s goal, and with this result our team reached 6 points in the group and in second place behind Al-Bidaa Club, which is in first place.
The match started with cautious calm between the two teams, with a pulse, and without attacks or real danger to either goalkeeper.
As the minutes passed, the pace of the match increased slightly, and Al-Sailiya became the better team, trying to attack our team’s goal. On the other hand, our team relied on counterattacks through Amjad Salah, Mariano Vazquez and Talal Munir, in an attempt to exploit the Al-Sailiya players’ advance, but without danger.
Our team succeeded in scoring the first goal in the 11th minute through Mariano Vazquez, who started with the ball from the middle of the field and shot a powerful left-footed ball that was beautiful and found its way into Al-Sailiya’s goalkeeper’s net, announcing our team’s lead with one goal without a response.
Our team continued its attacks on Al-Sailiya’s goal, and an opportunity arose through Amjad Salah, who shot a ball from a one-on-one position inside the box that passed next to the post, wasting the chance for a second goal and strengthening the result, then another opportunity for Mariano Vasquez, who shot a powerful ball that passed over the crossbar.
The first half ended with our team leading by one goal to none against Al-Sailiya.
The second half started strongly between the two teams, with an exchange of attacks between the players, and the most dangerous was Al-Sailiya, who threatened Majed Abdul Latif’s goal with a ball from a shot that passed over the crossbar.
At the 64th minute, our team made two substitutions, with Amjad Salah leaving and Anicet Ora entering, and Talal Munir leaving and Abdul Aziz Adel entering, to activate the front line.
Continuous attempts by our team to strengthen the result with a second goal and kill the match, but all the opportunities and attacks did not rise to the required level.
Our team threatened Al-Sailiya’s goal again through Mariano Vasquez with a shot from inside the box that hit Al-Sailiya’s defense, followed immediately by a powerful shot from Yousef Sabri Al-Yahri that passed next to Al-Sailiya’s goalkeeper’s post.
Al-Sailiya had several chances but found the brilliance of our team’s goalkeeper Majed Abdul Latif.
Al-Sailiya managed to equalize the score in a deadly moment at minute 3+90, so the score became a goal for each team.
