Our first football team lost to Al-Markhiya Club by two goals to none, in a match held this evening at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar Club, as part of the seventh round of the Second Division League.
The match started strongly between the two teams, with the players of both teams trying to impose superiority from the beginning of the match, especially at Al-Markhiya, which relatively dominated the match, looking to score an early goal, as he had an opportunity from a powerful shot from a set piece by Jason Babio that passed safely past our goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Ali.
Our team is trying to get out with the ball and attack Al-Markhiya’s goal through Abdulrahim Al-Balushi, Youssef Sabri Al-Yahri and Mariano Vasquez, but it finds it difficult to advance, due to the intense pressure from Al-Markhiya players on our team players and their organized spread inside the stadium.
Continuous attempts by our team to penetrate Al-Markhiya’s defenses and find a way to reach Al-Markhiya’s goal, but without a real threat to goalkeeper Osama Adel Mohammed.
Al-Markhiya managed to score the first goal through Jason Babio in the 36th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box that found its way into the net of our team’s goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Ali, to give Al-Markhiya the lead with the first goal.
The first half ended with Al-Markhiya leading our team by a clean goal, and in a first half that was not at the required level from our team.
The second half began with a relative advantage for our team over the course of the match, with some offensive attempts, but they did not pose a threat to Al-Markhiya’s goal.
It was clear difficulty for our team to reach Al-Markhiya’s goal, due to the defensive formation and strong organization of Al-Markhiya’s players inside the field, which made it difficult to reach goalkeeper Osama Adel’s goal.
In the 60th minute, our team made two substitutions with Abdul Rahim Al-Balushi leaving and Guy Mbenza entering and John Benson leaving and Saad Al-Sawan entering, in order to activate the midfield and attack.
As the minutes of the second half passed, our team’s performance on the field improved little by little, and it began to dominate the match and reach Al-Markhiya’s goal, but the lack of focus among our players prevented the formation of attacks and the real danger to Al-Markhiya’s goalkeeper.
At the 70th minute, the team’s coach, Nabil Anwar, made two more substitutions, with Abdul Aziz Adel leaving and Amjad Salah entering, and Mohammed Saad Al-Badr leaving and Munqidh Mohammed Jihad Adi entering, to activate the right side and strengthen the front line.
In the 76th minute, Al-Markhiya managed to score the second goal and kill the dreams of returning to the match, through its player Ibrahim Masoud, who shot the ball from inside the box, and it hit our player Mohammed Saqr and deceived our goalkeeper Abdul Rahman Al-Ali and entered the net, so the score became two goals for Al-Markhiya and nothing for our team.
After our team received the second goal, the pace of the match slowed down a bit, and Al-Markhiya became the better team, as it continued to threaten our goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Ali’s goal with several opportunities through Jesus Babio, Noufal Banes and Mohammed Al-Hassan, but most of them passed safely off the goal. The match ended with a new loss for our team by two goals without a response from Al-Markhiya, and our team’s balance froze at 5 points in sixth place, continuing the series of completely unsatisfactory results in the Second Division League
