Our first football team tied with its counterpart Al-Bidaa with a goal for each, in the match that brought the two teams together this evening at Saud bin Abdulrahman Stadium at Al-Wakrah Club, within the competitions of the eighth week of the Second Division League, and with this tie, Muaither raised its score to 6 points, in seventh place on the standings, and Abdul Aziz Adel scored the team’s only goal in the 67th minute.
The course of the match
The match started with a fast pace from both teams, but without real opportunities on the goals, as Muaither relied in building its attacks on the movements of Anicet Ora and Abdul Aziz Adel, supported from behind by Youssef Sabri Al-Yahri and Mariano Vasquez, but the high pressure imposed by Al-Bidaa players made it difficult for the team to reach the net. Al-Bidaa almost opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a powerful shot from Henrique Defense, but goalkeeper Majed Abdul Latif excelled in stopping it and turning it into a corner kick. Then our team responded with the first dangerous opportunity in the 20th minute, when Milan Obradovic rose to receive a cross from Mariano Vazquez, but his header went just over the crossbar. Our team continued its attempts, and in the 32nd minute, Ziad Tariq made a wonderful incursion into the penalty area, but he shot the ball next to the post. Before the end of the first half, Mariano Vazquez fired a powerful left-footed shot in the 40th minute, but Al-Bidaa goalkeeper Ahmed Rashwan was on time, so the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Exciting second half and a draw decides the match
At the beginning of the second half, Al-Bidaa got a penalty kick that was successfully executed by Cristian Dal Bello in the 48th minute, giving his team a one-goal lead. After the goal, our team intensified its attempts to equalize, and Mariano Vazquez shot a corner kick directly at the goal, but Ahmed Rashwan cleared it to another corner.
At the 64th minute, our team coach made three substitutions at once, as Nassim Ben Issa entered instead of Youssef Sabri Al-Yahri, Amjad Salah instead of Talal Mounir, and Munqith Adi instead of Mohammed Saad Al-Badr, in an attempt to activate the midfield and attack lines.
Muaither’s equalizer came in the 67th minute, after a successful penetration by Anicet Ora inside the penalty area, as he sent a cross that the goalkeeper cleared, but Abdulaziz Adel followed it with a powerful header that found the net, bringing the match back to the starting point.
Our team continued its continuous pressure on Al-Bidda’s goal, and almost scored the second goal in the 76th minute when Munqith Adi sent a low cross to Amjad Salah, but the latter failed to exploit it in the required manner, thus wasting the team’s opportunity to advance.
Before the end of the match, Anicet Ora was sent off in the 87th minute after interfering with one of Al-Bidda’s players, so our team completed the match with ten players. However, the team tried to exploit the counterattacks, but without posing any real danger, so the match ended in a positive draw 1-1.
